“In the BIDPA Briefing for the first quarter of 1999, the real value of commercial bank lending actually fell during the early years of the boom. It only began to increase in
real terms in 1998, and since then has
been increasing very fast indeed. Lending to some economic sectors of the economy has doubled or tripled (in nominal terms).”
