“In this paper an attempt will be made to distinguish among various usages and conceptualisation of the concepts ‘dominance’, ‘dependency’ and ‘modernisation’ as they occur in social science literature. Briefly the paper sets out to trace the origins, comparative analysis of the so-called Third World – that of dependency and modernisation. The paper concludes with some critical reflections on both of these two paradigms.”
